Did you know that the shark is one of the most feared animals in the world? Great Whites, which can weigh up to 2400 pounds and can be over 20 feet long, are the greatest killers that have ever lived in the ocean. Great White Sharks, along with Bull sharks are responsible for most shark attacks. Sharks are marvelous fish, because of their appearance, behavior, and habitat. Because of their appearance, sharks are one of the most dangerous animals in the ocean yet still beautiful. Their appearance also shows just how powerful their body is because of their body, specialty features, and size. Sharks appearances are powerful, because of their body. Shark’s skin feels like sandpaper (Hirschmann 9). This is because it is made out of dermal dentiles, tooth like structures, and has slime covering them to make the shark swim faster (Candelaria 5). To blend into the seafloor great whites have a gray upper body, but are a snowy white underneath (“Great Animal”). Although sharks are dangerous, they only kill for food. They bite their prey from below taking only 1 bite and leave them for dead. When attacking prey, since they have no eyelids, they roll their eyes into their sockets whites biting (Hammond 15). Sharks are not picky eaters and use their ability to swim up to 35 miles per hour (“Great Animal”) to catch large animals such as sea lions, tuna, other sharks (Socher 376), small toothed whales, and sea turtles (“Great National”). Considering how sharks truly are not picky whatsoever no one would doubt that they ate some crazy things including license plates, paper cups, reindeer antlers, or anything else they find that humans have left or dropped in the ocean (Candelaria 9).
