Greece Involvement in World War 2

I wanted to pick this topic as my research question as I did not know much about Greece’s involvement in World War 2, but I knew that it is widely celebrated in the country. As being a Greek this was something I would love to spend the time to research to learn more about my heritage. This was something I believe that most of the class really did not know as well. So heading into this research I did not know where to begin. I began my research on getting a general overview on Greece during the World War. I then began to learn how the axis have been attempting to take parts of Greece. This when Greece began to play a huge role in the war. As the Italian Prime Minister Mussolini wanted to control over most of Greece, Hitler sent him to take over parts that were strategical moves for Germany advancing in the war. Having the Italians do so would only speed up Germany’s process on taking over Europe. This was only the beginning of which would be a very important war on Crete. On October 28th 1940 the Italian Prime Minister Mussolini demanded the Greek Prime Minister Yianni Metaxas to have Italian troops deployed in other parts of Greece.
