Undeniably, people worship only one God in Christianity, while in Greek Mythology, people worship several gods. In addition, to Christians, Jesus remains believed as one of the best creations in the universe, while the children of Danae and Hera aren't very well known. Finally, as a punishment for mankind and used as purpose of bringing evil and suffering into the world; Pandora, the first woman in Greek mythology, made a place for herself on earth.
Ancient Rome and Ancient Greece were very powerful and influential forces around the time that Christianity had began to spread. In Rome’s society, people followed under an emperor, who had strict rules about religion and the type of beliefs one should have. At the time, Rome’s official religion was pagan, but later converted to Christian. Ancient Greece had different religious beliefs than those that Christianity consisted of, but these countries were both powerful and helpful in spreading this new religion. Greece and Rome were impactful on Christian doctrine as well as helping this religion thrive and continue to expand to new areas.
Anyone who is even slightly familiar with both Greek mythology and Christianity can clearly see the many differences between the two. It almost seems like an oxymoron that a monotheistic religion and a polytheistic religion would have similar storylines. However, when one looks at the core themes of the stories, the similarities jump out. Although they may seem worlds apart, Christianity and Greek Mythology have similarities among their stories. One prominent example comes from the stories of the creation of man.

The Roman Religion uses ideas from Greece Mythology gods while Christianity doesn’t. “Christianity is worse than the Roman Religion! That religion uses one god, more gods are better,” the other sides view might argue. The Roman Religion took the ideas of the Greek religion and changed the names, so it is not original.
Christianity and Judaism are both monotheistic religions that share many similarities. Both religions were found in present day Israel and share a common writing. They shared the same Ten Commandments; Torah for the Jews and the Old Testaments for the Christians. Even though they are common in many different ways, they are also very different. Their marriage rites, rituals and the meaning of life are different.

In Christianity, people place their faith in God and let his will guide them throughout the trials and tribulations of their life, the same could be said of mythology, as to again use the Greeks as an example, people placed their faith in the Gods and Goddesses and let their actions be guided as such. The difference in Christianity and mythology in today’s time is that religion is thought to be fact, while mythology is believed to be fiction.
Two Authors, Two Books, Two Religions Nowadays, Greek and Roman mythology are considered fiction, but once upon a time they were known as very serious religions. Despite the similarities between the two, such as their gods, origins, and beliefs, they were known as enemies. They often fought over these similarities to argue which side was better. Not only was their conflict because of the resemblance to one another, they also clashed over differences such as their heroes and the characteristics of their gods. Knowing what makes them alike or what makes them different is a good way to understand the religion and also the way of life during the Greece and Roman times.
