To many of its citizens, the United States of America is regarded as the strongest nation around the globe; countless art pieces and literary works have been dedicated to the topic as well. One of those is a short article entitled“A Nation of Opportunity and Freedom”, which aims to solidify the reader’s national pride and the idea that the United States of America is one of the foremost nations to grace this Earth. Within this article, Gregory Papadin is persuasive to the reader in this piece because of his use of diction, exemplification, and comparison and contrast within it.
Right from the start, Papadin creates an aura of patriotism and good feelings with nothing other than his meticulous selection of words. His diction sets the tone of the article as one of nationalism, honor, and hope for the future of the American society.
