Griffin's Change In The Novel Jumper

Imagine having the ability to teleport like Griffin O’Conner, who is known as a Jumper. When he grew to the age of ten his parents were killed by the Paladins, who are after Griffin. The Paladins are people that can sense Jumpers when they teleport and have been at war with Jumpers for many years. When Griffin's parents were killed, his carefree attitude changed and he became cautious but more violent . Griffin is a strong dynamic character in the novel Jumper because he endures drastic changed due to the attack by the Paladins on his loved ones.

He had to live in an abandoned mine to have peace and quiet in order to escape captivity from the Paladins. Stated by Griffin, he always had to do something different to make sure they couldn't track his every move, “They had experience sensing jumps. Other jumps. Not mine” (Gould 93). Griffin walked more often when traveling to place that had his loved ones around, so that he wouldn’t be detected. According to Griffin, he formed strategies to be unseen and undetected when walking around in crowds, “ … jumping to lots of different stations, always trying to pick a place, before I left. That I’d never jumped to before” (Gould 118).

Griffin is a strong character in this novel because he has changed extremely due to Paladins that attacked his beloved family and friends. Griffin had to travel often, to escape the Paladins radar. He rarely visited his close friends because he wanted to keep them safe and out of contact with Paladins but some friends were still killed. In his life, he sometimes have no choice but to kill Paladins just to make it through another day. This is the life of a
