Early childhood is crucial to development of a child because it is the foundation of further learning. Children learn and develop language, social-emotional, physical, and cognitive skills while they play and interact with others in everyday life. If a child receive an education that effective and age-appropriate, the child can learn so much more than a child who does not. Therefore, an early childhood educator should use the guiding document in order to create a lesson that enhance age-appropriate and foster the foundation of future education of young children. For example, reading a book or singing a song about number are great ways to motivate children to learn math and “Counting concepts can be easily integrated into literacy activities through intentional selection of age appropriate and engaging books” (Jacobi-Vessels, Todd Brown, Molfese, & Do, 2016, p. 6). The guiding documents recommend a teaching method that integrates one subject to the others, such as math into literacy, art, or science (California Department of Education, 2009). Moreover, an effective instruction is based on “methods of determining children’s current milestone level and strategies used by teachers to enable children to progress to the next milestone” (Jacobi-Vessels, Todd Brown, Molfese, & Do, 2016, p. 3). In order to create the effective instruction, the educators need to use the guiding documents as references for age-appropriate development of a child and what they can learn next. Therefore, an early childhood educators should base a lesson on the guiding documents in order to create an effective and age-appropriate
