Domestic Policy: Gun Control According to various sources such as, procon.org, dw.com, and obamawhitehouse.archives.gov, gun control may be a solution to stopping mass murders, and limiting deaths by guns in the United States. Currently in the United States we don’t have much gun control laws, because of this there is over one hundred thousand annual deaths caused by guns in the United States. By enacting gun control we will limit the amount of murders, suicides, accidents, and the killing of law enforcement that goes on in our country. At the moment only a dozen states require a permit for the purchase of a handgun, and only 3 states require permits to purchase a shotgun or rifle. Next, I may have random lottery drawn searches on known fugitives, to be sure they are not in possession of any type of firearm. I’d also pass any reasonable gun control related bills that would come through my office. However I’d focus gun control more on populated city areas, rather than the countryside which has ranches and farms. I believe that people who live in the country should all own a gun to easily put down an injured animal, for hunting, or to defend livestock or crops from animals. I’d handle gun control in this way, because of the things I personally believe would be better for our country and do good to all people. For example, if you live in a city you don’t really need a firearm except for home safety. Which in the unlikely chance of someone breaking into your home you probably wouldn’t use the weapon and probably use it more as something to scare them with. On the other hand, people like my aunt and uncle who live on a large ranch in Montana, actually use firearms quite often to keep their animals safe, for hunting, and to shoot pests like prairie dogs who eat their
