Gustav Mahler's Major Accomplishments

Gustav Mahler, a man very passionate about music described his past by saying, “I was a crazy young man who let himself be blinded by his passions and obeyed only the impulses of the moment” (Brainy, 2015). Which he clearly lived out all throughout his life. He was born into a Jewish family on July 18th, 1860 in Kaliste, Czech Republic (Magnificent, 2011). Being a Jew, he felt it was the “Chief mistake” in his career. Having music in his life at a young age, pushed him to keep pursuing the things he loved and wanted for himself. Saying this, having that early career full of composing and singing, he thought being a conductor would be a more “practical career” (BIO, 2015). Gustav Mahler had a life full of grief and sadness which led to the him being an emotional person, which showed in his beautiful but deep works, that are still well known today.
At age eight Gustav Mahler already started his musical career by composing. Luckily, his parents saw the potential he had with music and soon let him attend private music lessons. This piece mostly stayed miner, with a powerful voice. At times the music would stop completely then soon worked back up to being mysterious and dark again. I enjoyed this one more than his other ones, the notes changed and was not as drown out. His other famous work, Das klagende Lied seemed minor but also major some. It was dramatic at times, but was too long and drawn out for me to enjoy. Although, the instruments and choir did flow together really well. Gustav Mahler's fifth symphony, completely instrumental, which at times made it less interesting. The piece sounded mostly minor but still dramatic. Just listening to a few of his works, it shows me how much of an interesting person he
