1. Major factors that, over time affect the health and well-being of individuals are known as Health Determinants.
2. List and explain H. L Blum’s models for health.
Blum proposed that four major items contributed to a person’s health and well-being, environment, lifestyle, heredity and medical care.
Environment effects would come from the society the person lived in. The person’s economic status as well as physical environmental influence. Air, food and water quality, as well as contaminants that are man-made or geographical, also living conditions.

Market Justice allow people to choose which services they would like to purchase with the money they earn on their own. Health care like many other services is considered a marketable item. A free market creates options for both the consumer and the producer. For the producer, it is an incentive to offer the best that they can in technology and knowledge for the consumer it offers a wider range of options and more choices.
Social Justice in a perfect world would mean health care for all at an affordable price or paid for by the government. It is not a perfect world and many countries with Social Justice are finding it a strain on the economy and in some case the very health of the people themselves. Social justice is more about decreasing the cost of health care than offering services to the population. The lack of service in a lower populated area would also be a cause for expensive travel for the population also. Higher populated areas could be the cause of longer waiting times for treatment if the diagnosis is considered a lower concern. The cost of providing services to an entire country will result in higher taxes. As a collective responsibility, everyone in the society would be accountable for the taxes not just a small section, this is very rarely the case in a government based system.
