Why The Federal Theatre Project Shouldn’t Have Been Shut Down The Federal Theatre Project started in 1935 as a New Deal program to fund theatre and other live artistic performances and entertainment programs in the United States during the Great Depression. It was one of five Federal Project Number One projects sponsored by the Works Progress Administration. In addition, The Federal theatre Project was ran by Hallie Flanagan, a woman of great determination to make the program a success, and succeeded. The Federal Theatre Project opened up its doors to many different plays for free so families to enjoy as well as jobs, and acting opportunities for everyone including minorities.
Another program that was made was the Work Progress Administration (WPA). As a result of the WPA, many buildings, roads, airports, and schools were built and it gave work to many people. Most people who got employed were either painters, musicians, or writers. This program helped about a total of 9 million people in America (Doc B). After the New Deal was created, the unemployment rate went down drastically (Doc D).
I am applying to become a member of the Landmark Harbor East Theatre floor staff. Having been a lifeguard every summer for 4 years, I understand what it takes to provide customer service to patrons of an establishment. Additionally, through work as a lifeguard I acquired skills such as facility maintanence and team cooperation. As a floor staff member of Landmark Theatres, I can assure that I will use these skills to get the job done properly and efficiently. I am a tenacious worker and will go above and beyond to get the job done.

He implemented the New Deal where the government had to step into and help struggling businesses. The arts were struggling so the Federal Theatre Project (FTP) was created. Even though the FTP succeeded in reaching many of its goals, it ultimately did not succeed.
Four months into the school year and this portfolio project has brought me to a number of realizations. The choices I made in my Technical Theatre I classes worked well, I feel they lead to a deeper understanding of the elements of design and they made points I had a hard time making in the past. While in my advanced class, I struggled to get a majority of students engaged in the large “Macbeth” project. During this semester, I came to the conclusion I need to fight more for the right to “approve” students for my advanced class. I don’t want my classes to become a dumping ground for students not willing to work.

Although Signature Theatre has not yet produced a production of Guys and Dolls it’s one that their company could undoubtedly do so in the future. The theatre certainly has the capabilities and facilities necessary to produce a high quality version of this musical. However, this fact, although relevant is not the most important factor in deciding whether or not they would choose to produce the show. The theatre must also have a desire to chose this specific musical among the hundreds of other choices that exist. An examination of Signature Theatre’s history and currents goals helps one to see if this desire exists.

I’m gratified by the recent structure built for the arts. In the recent year the Lord Chamberlains men built the Globe Theater. It can seat about 3,000 people, the stage measures to be 27 by 43 feet. The theater regularly shows 10 different plays in an amount of two weeks. Many of my plays have been shown at the Globe Theater.
The stage manager’s role is to describe certain events throughout the play at least in most plays but it seems to be in this one the stage manager is not just describing the play but is a part of it. We could honestly go on and on about all the different characters in the play but then this wouldn’t be much of an essay about the stage manager would it? Yes this is an essay, no matter this essay must continue and give more detail about the stage manager and possibly some of the other characters. The point of Our Town by Thornton Wilder is to point out the lack of attention people spend on the little things in life like for example Emily who never knew there was more going on within her family then what she saw. What’s sad is that Emily heard all the little things her family said but she just like so many before her never paid much

One such program was the Federal Theater Project, which John Houseman was a director on. That night when he saw Welles, he discovered talent. He knew what he had. Right away, Houseman put Welles in charge of a theater house in Harlem.
Introduction The Obergefell v. Hodges will be held at The Yale Repertory Theatre (Yale Rep) on June 6 to July 2. 2018. Therefore, I analyze this competitive pricing template project base on Friday drama. I think general audiences would like to visit the drama on Friday and the ticket pricing is more flexible on Friday than the week day. In addition, I find that most of the Yale Rep’s dramas are started on Friday. In other words, the Friday is a key time for drama.
Imagining the effects of getting rid of the Endowment can be hard to simply imagine, which is why some may be so eager to eliminate the Endowment altogether. When there is no tangible view of what could be lost, one can easily say that for the greater good, one could survive without the object. An additional argument against funding the NEA is that art will survive without the grants of the Endowment. Feminist theatre came into being as a by product of the experimental theatre movement of the 1970s’ and 1980’. It was an alternate theatre which enabled women to explore their creative talents on stage independently. Feminist theatre served as a means of constructing an exclusive feminist discourse on stage that questioned the patriarchal norms of female subjugation. Its movement was towards the construction of a theatre space where women are no longer mere stage props. They started functioning as the creators of drama rather than being confined to the roles of wife, lover, mother or lunatic.
