In both the stories of Odysseus and Perseus, both show similarities of what the Ancient Greeks believed to be a hero. The story of Odysseus was written by Homer, and the story of Perseus was written by Edith Hamilton. In both stories they both show their focusedness on their task, their determination, and their wanting to to accomplish their task. However, both had their flaws in either their plan or their personality. Both these hero’s were focused on their completing their task. For example, Odysseus wanted to get home to his wife and son. He did his best to keep his crew in check. He saved them from the Lotus eaters and the cyclopes. He’s main focus was getting him and his crew home. As for Perseus his task was to get the head on Medusa. This task was challenging and did need assistance, but he was focused on getting the head as a gift and never gave up. …show more content…

For Perseus he was determined in getting the eye from the gray women. He had the patience and willpower to wait until none of them was in possession of the eye. He was finally successful in retrieving the eye and find out the information he needed. In Odysseus’s standpoint, he had the determination of getting him and his men past the sirens, he showed great leadership in doing what was best for himself and others. Another example of Odysseus showing good determination was Poseidon. Poseidon did not like Odysseus, he would set him back and keep punishing him. However Odysseus worked through all the hardships.
