Charlie by, Lee Maracle is about a young Indian boy who goes to a catholic school. Charlie dreams about going outside and exploring but the school will punish him if he does. One a day a group of kids including Charlie sneak out to go to one of their families houses. When they get their Charlie leaves to go to his family’s cabin. Unfortunately his long journey is cut short by frost bite and he dies of hypothermia.
Lee Maracle’s short story “Charlie” raises themes of imperial education on Aboriginal children in Canada and the harmfulness this standardized European schooling causes on the people, communities, and livelihood of Aboriginal tribes. In just a few short pages, “Charlie” manages to convey the severity of the situation for Aboriginal children taken to Residential Schools in Canada in an attempt to assimilate them into the foreign culture, religion and values of European imperialism. The children in the school are shown to have adapted to the situation by feigning stupidity and dull resignation, while quietly resisting in their own ways; Charlie, the titular character, escapes his imprisonment through daydreaming and, later, running away. I think Charlie from the extract of the book Miracle’s Boys by Jaqueline Woodson was the person that had changed the most, in Focus on Change. When Charlie from the book Miracle’s Boys came home from the juvenile detention centre, he had changed a lot. According to Lafayette’s description, Charlie had become as mean as his older brother Aaron.

She searched for the mystery boy for over a year until one day her best friend, Sarah, introduces the boy she had been searching for as her new boyfriend at a Christmas party. The boy, Jack, remains in Laurie's life for the next ten years throughout the book, and their story’s intertwine, until they come together at last in the end.
In Dr. Seuss’s poem “The Grinch Who Stole Christmas”, the author focuses on Marxism and the effects it has on society. Marxism or Marxist criticism analysis literature in an economical view point and considers the main issues to be economical privilege or lack thereof. In the poem, it starts off stating that the Grinch did not like Christmas because “his head wasn't screwed on just right. It could be, perhaps, that his shoes were too tight” this seems to imply that the Grinch didn’t have proper education due to financial issues and as a result, he couldn’t think properly. The term “his shoes were too tight” also seems to suggest financial problems as normal people get new shoes when their shoes become too tight.
The most wonderful time of the year is christmas for everyone expected the three friends Amy, Kiki, and Carla; the three main character of A Bad Moms Christmas. In this action/ adventure movie unappreciated moms decided that their gonna do christmas the lazy way instead of worrying about having the perfect ideal christmas. Unfortunately it 's not that easy when their own mothers decided to butt in. Amy has her mom on her back to do a traditional christmas and tries to take over. Kiki’s mom shows up early and is super overwhelming, stressful, smoothing and invading kiki’s space.
On November 26, 2016, I attended the Emerald City Theatre Company production of Charles M. Schulz play Charlie Brown Christmas. The production of the play was great for the children who were in attends of the play. The production took away the 4th wall. Which help the children of the audiences be a part of the play a couple of times. Still, it 's a good and time-efficient choice for family members who are used to the animated Charlie Brown and wanting it to be the same as the TV special.

She is small and sprightly, like a bantam hen; but, due to a long youthful illness, her shoulders are pitifully hunched…….. “Oh my,” she exclaims, her breath smoking the windowpane, “it’s fruitcake weather!” ( Capote 177). This all describes a women called buddy's friend, she is young in heart but brittle in age, she is a very spritely little old women whose kind, and innocent.
The Grinch Who Stole Christmas The Grinch who stole Christmas is one of my favorite Dr. Seuss books and one of my favorite Christmas movies. I found 3 things similar to one another in the book and the movie which had the Grinch who hated Christmas, the Who’s who loved Christmas, and the Grinch stole all of the presents and food. One identical thing I found in the movie and book was that the Grinch hated Christmas. If they didn’t put the Grinch’s hate for Christmas in both the book and, he would have no reason to steal Christmas and it wouldn’t have been a very good movie.
“These men were somehow different from other men. They were said to have soldier’s heart” (XV). In the novel Soldier’s Heart the main character was a fifteen year old boy who no longer wanted to be a boy. He wanted to be a man. He suffered a major loss which was his Father, so it was himself, his broth, and of course his Mother.
Dr. Seuss’ poem, “How the Grinch Stole Christmas” can be analyzed using many different schools of criticism, however, the psychoanalytical school of criticism holds allows us to truly understand the “true meaning” behind the poem. The poem begins with a socially isolated character, the Grinch, who loathes Christmas and wishes to completely destroy it. He wants to completely eliminate Christmas from “Whoville.” The Grinch gets irritated whenever when he hears the singing from the children and sees families feasting together in the holiday season. However, as the poem progress, the Grinch starts to feel the love and happiness involved with Christmas and ends up correcting his wrongdoings to ultimately enjoy Christmas with the “Whos.”
Amy Tan’s Joy Luck Club is an amazing representation of what Chinese immigrants and their families face. The broad spectrum of the mothers’ and daughters’ stories all connect back to a couple of constantly recurring patterns. These patterns are used to show that how the mothers and daughters were so differently raised affected their relationships with each other, for better and for worse. To begin with, the ever-present pattern of disconnect between the two groups of women is used to show how drastically differently they were raised.
It’s a Wonderful Life is a film set in the World War II era that follows the life of George Bailey. George spends his entire life in a small town named Bedford Falls. His dream was always to leave the town and travel the world, but he never gets the opportunity because he is stuck running his father’s building and loan company. George serves the citizens of the town by providing them with affordable housing. During this time he makes many important relationships with people throughout the town.

Tim Burton was influenced by Roald Dahl along with other well-known authors such as Dr. Suess.
