How does it feel to do the hardest job in the world? There are many people who claim their job as the hardest on, such as soldiers or surgeons. But none of them have the hardest job, actually someone who isn't considered person has it, Death. Many people may see him as someone bad, but he isn't that bad. Sometimes I see him as someone good. We may imagine him as a skeleton with a scythe and wearing a coat, but maybe he is as human as us. He may take away many lives, but usually, those lives were suffering before being taken away.
Death’s job is quite simple, he takes away the souls of dead people. For me, it sounds simple, for him it is very difficult. He describes his job as stressful, and wishes he could take vacations. The problem is that there is no one that replaces him, so he needs another way to cope with stress. His way of coping is found everywhere, colors. Death says that colors help him when he is taking away souls. At the beginning of The Book Thief, he described himself with three colors: white, red, and black. This colors are the same colors from the Nazi flag. He didn't agree with them, but they gave him most of his job. Death also is precise, he is always just in time. And always in the right place.
