Are you better off facing numerous difficulties or being
A hardship is a challenge ar difficulty in life for you to overcome therefore, hardship can influence a person’s life because those who persevere overcome the hardship. In the book Hero street USA, Tony lived in a box car with no running water and electricity because they lived in poverty. Tony went to school everyday and didn’t let the difficulty of his life affect him he persevered through his childhood and joined the army where he served his country and made money. He eventually saved enough money to buy his family a house with running water and electricity.
Any obstacle or disadvantage may be turned into something good if you really want to change what the situation is. In the book “The Glass Castle” Jeannette Walls went through a plethora of obstacles and disadvantages in her life that caused dilemmas for her, yet they never stopped her. In the book “ The Outsider” just by the fact of being born a greaser was already a disadvantage and there was still more obstacles to come, but that didn’t stop Ponyboy from trying to change his situation for better. Some people say that usually when you’re in a difficult situation where there are many obstacles and disadvantages in your way, you should either give up or just move to somewhere else where the situation is easier. I’ve heard this from more people than I can count and there are still many more with different ideas, but that lead to the same conclusion as said above.
“Death is not the greatest lost in life. The greatest loss is what dies inside us while we live." -Norman Cousins. Emotional death can cause someone to not notice something that are happening around them due to them being around it so much. In the book Night by Elie Wiesel, Wiesel and his father are deported and relocated to different concentration camps.
Overcoming advers requires being brave and noble. Also, being able to look on the positive side in life in tough situations. Overcoming illnesses, disabilities, or disfunctional families can be very hard to deal with. Sometimes you just need to keep going and not look back and by doing so a lot more opportunities may appear in life. Christy Brown in My Left Foot, Bethany Hamilton, and Jeanette Walls in The Glass Castle are all examples of people who had to deal with great hardships in order to push them to become the successful and mature people that they are today.
Living in Conditions that Ultimately Made Them Stronger John Quincy Adams once stated, “patience and perseverance have a magical effect before which difficulties disappear and obstacles vanish.” In the world today, obstacles have an impact on the way one goes about their respective life. These obstacles range from emotions to illness to social class. How one interprets those obstacles decides whether that life goes down as a success or failure. As a society, we often admire those who take their obstacles and use them to create a better life.
Everyone in life, has faced many difficulties, it's a part of growing up. Many people however, do not have the same issues to overcome. A superb example, would be a man named Dave Pelzer. He has gone through the most brutal childhood ever imagined. He had, of course, overcome this difficult obstacle and he became very fulfilled with his life.
Hardship. Distressing. Trouble. All those are words that describe Adversity. Overcoming adversity is essential for us to live.
Over the years,I came to see life in the inner city as a challenge. I see myself as the very few,who embraces any type of challenge that is thrown at thrown at them. There is this one quote that really matches the way I deal with challenges. The quote is "Don 't limit your challenges, challenge your limits." The reason for why I really like this quote is because for me challenges make a man stronger.
Introduction Mitch Albom touched the soul of the readers with his work. It’s theme of afterlife was as old as the civilizations but narrative style subtly appeals the intellectual aspects of the contemporary readers and questions their sensibility towards their fellow beings. The writers of all generations observe the changes and challenges of their era, depicts them faithfully in their literature by addressing the issues that affects the individual & the society in totality. Mitch Albom exactly did the same in his book. Advanced technology made the life style more result oriented and mechanical in its approach dwindles their sensitiveness for others.
Obstacles can be challenging, and difficult, but people can overcome them by never giving up, always trying their best, and surrounding themselves with families and friends. Two stories that I have read that show adversity are “A Work in Progress” by Aimee Mullins which is about a little girl losing her leg. The other story I read is “So Far From the Bamboo Grove” by Yoko Kawashima Watkins about a little girl that has to leave her home because of war and has very big obstacles to overcome. Aimee Mullins and the Kawashimas both face obstacles that include losing family members, walking very far in intense weather, and people doubting you and trying to stop you. In the end they all make it through the the challenges mentally and physically.
After the obstacles he has overcame Walt Disney once said “All the adversity I’ve had in my life, all my troubles and obstacles, have strengthened me… You may not realize when it happens, but a kick in the teeth may be the best thing in the world for you.” Everyone has a time in there life where they need to get passed something that is in there way. When this time or times come everyone would find a way to get through it, whether it is asking for help or doing it on their own. When someone says the word adversity one would say you have to be hard working, determined, and strong would pop into their mind.
Describe a time when you overcame a serious challenge. Explain the details of the situation and how you handled things and worked through things. A serious challenge I have faced is growing up with my grandparents. While most people say that I’m so lucky for it there is a lot they don’t know.
Many people are faced with challenging situations each day, but it is up to that person on how he or she will go about facing those challenges. I wish it can be said that each challenge a person face will bring something positive in their life. Challenges may come and go in all shapes, sizes, or colors. A person may feel as if their world is bright as a yellow sun one day and dark gray as a stormy night the next day, and that may be the important turning point when that challenge turn into a crisis. “Crisis occurs when more change or adjustment is required of an individual than he or she is capable of at the time” (Servellen,248).
When difficulty occurs, I am more likely to form the judgment on myself. Always ask me a host of questions of “why”. The latest example of my life challenge is when my father last entered the hospital, he suffered a lot of the unbearable pain and I could not do anything for him. I could only stay with him near the bedside. Every night, I could barely sleep.
