1960 Words8 Pages

The first author that I have chosen to write about is Claude Mckay. “Claude Mckay was born into a poor farm-working family in Sunny Ville, Clarendon Parish, Jamaica, and spent half of his life on the British Caribbean Island” (Norton 2721). As I noticed while reading a brief description about Claude Mckay he had a rough upbringing and had a harsh life like most authors did. Mckay had several jobs such as a cabinetmaker and a police. As stated in the Norton, “Walter Jekyll, encouraged him to write in Jamaican dialect, or Creole” (Norton 2721). This was the start of Mckay’s writing of literature and what made him become who he was. Bronte feels happiest when she is away from life itself. She feels free when she is in her own state of consciousness as we see in the beginning of the poem. Her soul feels as though it has left her body and went to a peaceful place away from everything such as life itself. “When I am not and none beside” (Bronte 1329). She has no distractions surrounding her it is only her and her alone just the way she likes it. In her short poem “Remembrance” this person is talks about her lover’s death and his grave. “Cold in the earth, and the deep snow piled above thee!” (Bronte 1330). It seems to be winter time when these thoughts of love swarm her about her deceased lover. As the poem goes along she starts to think about him and her pain and despair of life without him. “Sweet love of youth, forgive if I forget thee”(Bronte 1331). She wishes as not to forget her lover because times have gone by and new memories have arisen in her mind. Although he passed away she feels as if she can never forget his oh so sweet love and when he died her love went with him. She seems to believe that life goes on without the one she loves with her and that she cannot keep being sad and lost without him. If she keeps thinking about the time her lover died then she will end up sad all over
