Rash Decisions With Consequences
Quick decisions have harmful consequences and negatively impact to those who make these choices. In Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet, Romeo Montague and Juliet Capulet’s families experience many negative consequences from their decisions. From this, they learned that acting with caution is better than acting reckless while making decisions. Anyone is capable of making rash decisions no matter the age. The impact of reckless decisions and the negative consequences are displayed many times throughout the novel. Harmful consequences occur from rash decisions that all characters in Romeo and Juliet make. One instance is when Romeo engages in a battle with Tybalt. His punishment for killing Tybalt is being banished from all of Verona. Prince says, “Immediately we do exile his hence”(III.i.97) to Romeo. Romeo’s recklessness hurts him because he is unable to see his wife, Juliet. This proves that a horrible decision has a negative consequence. Another instance is when Juliet fakes her death. Romeo visits her thinking she is dead and says, “For here lies Juliet, and her beauty makes/This vault a feasting presence full of light” (V.iii.85-86). Juliet’s decision causes multiple deaths including, her own. In the end, a poor decision always has a horrible consequence. In conclusion, harmful consequences occur from rash decisions that all characters in Romeo and Juliet make. Acting with caution helps all characters in Romeo and Juliet when they make decisions. Anyone in Romeo and Juliet is able to make a rash decision no matter how old they are. The impact of a rash decision that a character makes in the play always has a horrible consequence.
