A life of severe disability, is not a life worth living. Therefore, an infant born with a severe physical or cognitive impairment should not be allowed to live. Or any person for that matter, regardless of age who suffers from a severe cognitive disability should be lawfully killed. At least that is a belief held by a certain professor at Princeton University. Harriet McBryde Johnson, a disability advocate and lawyer had the opportunity to debate these beliefs with Professor Peter Singer.
Several social changes in the post-war years opened women to feminism's message. His take on the Harriet Ann Jacobs’ story was something that extremely captivated me because I had not known much about her story. Harriet Ann Jacobs exposed the reality of what it meant to be a slave and gave a different perspective from that of Harriet Beecher Stowe. Despite all, she did to expose the conditions that former slaves lived in, and the progress that she helped create in the 19th century, many whites did not believe that Jacobs wrote her own story. This was due to the basis that she was poor and black.

In Harriet Ann Jacobs's Incidents in the Life of a Slave Girl, a personal memoir, Jacobs tells her story about her experiences as a slave and her son followed escape from slavery. The story was written with no effort to disguise her political message. From the excerpt we read, it can easily be seen that she wants to do everything she can to help the millions of people who are still slaves. “Jacobs was very family-oriented and relationships were the main focus of her life” (InscriptionsJournal 3). This is proven many times as she talks about her grandmother and kids and their well-being.

In this paper, I will be describing Harriet Jacobs’ life and the significance she had in the Civil War. I will be discussing a very strong woman that made a very big impact on this world. Harriet Jacobs was born into slavery on February 11th, 1813.
Women faced discrimination based on the fact that many people still held their traditional values and were even more outraged at the thought of women taking their jobs. The purpose of this piece was to reflect on the absence of women society and to ask what could have been happening to them during the time. Therefore, the Equal Rights Amendment guaranteed equal rights with men and the Equal Pay Act guaranteed equal pay. But these opportunities rarely helped women since they were prohibited and discriminated from universities and communal school, young girls have to be taught at home by mothers due to the segregation from males and females. In the 1960s, organizations were predominantly constructed for women since they were driven away from society of men and can’t attend schools and colleges.
The Equal Rights Amendment was a movement created by women after World War II who wanted to stand up for women equality. The Equal Rights Amendment is attended to create all people, regardless of gender, equal. It was first introduced in 1923, but was finally approved by Congress. Harriet Ann Jacobs is the first Afro-American female writer to publish the detailed autobiography about the slavery, freedom and family ties. Jacobs used the pseudonym Linda Brent to keep the identity in secret. In the narrative, Jacobs appears as a strong and independent woman, who is not afraid to fight for her rights. Incidents in the Life of a Slave Girl was published in 1961, but was unveiled almost 10 years later due to the different slave narrative structure. Frequently, the slave narratives were written by men where they fight against the slavery through literacy by showing their education.
Since the establishment of the roles of society, women have been entitled to feminine roles that focus on family and nurturing. This roles allows for the subordination of women in the workplace since it makes distinctions between ideological constraints between genders.
