Character Analysis (Dark Night)
Harvey Dent was the city’ district attorney, who was symbolized by the people of Gotham, as a savior against crime. Dent was the perfect example of Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs. Dent met each need, eventually turning into the villain. The first level of Maslow’s hierarchy is physiological, the necessary requirements for living such as food water and shelter, which he has acquired. The next level is the need for safety, Harvey relied on the batman and the police force of Gotham for protection. If we continue up the pyramid the next level is belongingness or the relationships that one need both intimate and or friendship. With extensive research the true origin of the joker in the dark night, it has been reported is Joker was abused as a child by his father who gave him the on his mouth and when his gambling wife left him, it helped turn him insane while the origin story of the joker in suicide squad is he was a chemical engineer who fell into a chemical waste that disfigure his appearance helping him to turn insane. The joker shows the truth of life being a big joke by giving evidence that life can change at any moment for example Two-face that the best can fall. The Joker is a great example of a person of ASPD (Antisocial Personality Disorder), he has no feelings toward others, treats other harshly, and behaves violently and impulsively. Another disorder that Joker has is intermittent explosive disorder. The Joker is also a psychopath, who manipulates and mimics emotions to get what he wants. An examples is when he wanted to prove that even the best of us can fall. It is sometimes referred to as sociopathic personality disorder, or sociopathy. (Lenzenweger MF, 2007) Intermittent Explosive personality disorder involves repeated, sudden episodes of impulsive, aggressive, violent behavior or angry verbal outbursts in which you react grossly out of proportion to the situation. (staff, 2016)This can be seen in the scene in suicide squad where a thug compliments Harley Quinn to the Joker and you see the change emotion and the end result is the joker kills the thug.
