Harvey Weinstein, Co-founder of Miramax and The Weinstein Company, known for his dominance in the movie industry has become the subject of a ten-month investigation into the sexual assault of multiple women. His range of victims is proof that fame and fortune do not exempt you from being disrespected. The accusation extends from groping a Filipina-Italian model named Ambra Battilana Gutierrez to Oscar winner Angelina Jolie even say she had to refuse sexual advances he made. Although movies such as “Pulp Fiction” are what made his name popular, his influence went beyond Hollywood and into the politics of Washington D.C. The Democratic National Committee has received approximately $305k in addition to this the Democratic Senate Campaign Committee has received nearly $193k. Democrats on the receiving end of the donations, including former President Barack Obama, 2016 Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton, and Sens. Elizabeth Warren, Al Franken, Cory Booker, and Kirsten Gillibrand have all received donations from Weinstein. According to the Center for Responsive Politics, Weinstein had made 185 individual donations to a variety of Democratic candidates and liberal-aligned organizations dating back to the early 1990s.
