In the satirical novel, “Dealing with Dragons,” by Patricia C. Wrede, Cimorene is a princess who refuses to accept her social and illustrious stance in society. In general, Cimorene decided to go against traditional princess behavior and wanted independence for herself. Through her adventure she faced wizards, witches, and dragons and ultimately decides to become a dragon’s princess. With her help the dragons find out about the wicked wizards and put a stop to the treacherous dragon, Woraug, in his ambition to be king. However, Cimorene was not justified in ignoring the expected social norms in the Medieval society because her kingdom would have brought her wealth, safety, and power.
In the book “ Johnny Tremain” written by Esther Forbes, the theme pride really stands out in the beginning of the book. In this book, it repeatedly shows pride as a bad thing. Pride is one of the few things in the world that isn’t just good or evil. Pride is only evil if you let it become more important than everything else. With help from his best friend/brother Leo, the mischievous kid concocts schemes to drive his tyrannical principle absolutely insane, while also using his glamour and charm to impress the love of his life, Jeanne and fight back the bullies. Therefore stating that this book shows that life is filled with all kinds of choices.
When you read this book didn't you realize how much Cole had changed well so did I. In the beginning of the book Cole beat up Peter Driscol, and he didn't even regret it. The memoir "All but My Life", tells of Gerda’s life story as she suffered under Nazi rule. It brings a perspective of the horrors the victims of the Holocaust went through and teaches an important lesson. The theme of the work tells how sustaining hope is crucial to survival and is shown when Gerda believed her life would never change in the beginning, when she found hope from her family in the middle, and how she survived through hope online when she had nothing left during the death march. Hope is one of the main reasons Gerda survived, and the evidence is shown throughout the story. Gerda already showed her aspirations and beliefs at the beginning of the story.
Alternative Essay on The Devil and Tom Walker In the short story of The Devil and Tom Walker written by Washington Irving, religion played some parts throughout the story but didn’t have a very huge impact on the protagonist, Tom himself. Tom’s character only turned to religion near the end of the story to ask for help from God in reverse for what he has done to the innocent people of Boston. When the story is told from Sethe’s point of view it is quite easy for the reader to understand and empathize with Sethe’s emotions. However, Morrison changes the point of view to show the reader how harboring some emotions for too long can be detrimental to a person’s mental health. Paul D. witnesses how Sethe’s emotions have completely taken control of her life and desperately tries to make Sethe realize her self-worth.
