Helios, the sun god in greek mythology, was the son of Titan Hyperion, and Titaness Theia. Titans being the first divine race that ruled before the Olympians. Helios being a second generation Titan, the Greek’s pictured him as a “Handsome Titan with flowing hair, driving a golden chariot, pulled by four fiery steeds across the sky.” (“Greek Gods and Goddesses”) Helios would perform this act daily, journeying from east-to-west in his magnificent golden chariot, guided by his four “fiery steeds”, Aethon, Pyrois, Phlegon, and Eous, this is meant to represent the Sun’s position in the sky throughout the day.Helios was the personification of the sun and sunlight.
