The Crucible by Arthur Miller shows what the people in the town of Salem went through during the witch trials. Reverend Hale, a character in the story is an expert in the dark arts, and is in Salem to find out if there are witches. Upon arrival he faces many difficult scenarios for even an expert like himself. Reverend Hale’s feelings are tried throughout the entirety of his visit in Salem; his opinions change with every new stone overturned. When Hale is initially interviewing Betty Parris and Abigail he uncovers a certain turn of events to persuade him to believe witches are loose in Salem.
First of all, let me say that I’m really, really sorry again for handing in work of Marya Hornbacher. However, it may also have been a good learning exercise for me. The stories of Marya Hornbacher really attracted my attention and I loved them. They were emotional appealing and I could relate to it. They were absolutely moving, inspiring and hauntingly beautiful.
However, it made volunteering satisfying. It was also interesting to look back and see myself as a follower and be able to place myself in Kelly’s model. Even though with my tasks I was not an effective follower, I see the importance of what I was doing as an implementer. By graduation, every student knew each other and felt connected as Keller graduates. Due to a small student-to-teacher ratio, we were able to bond with our teachers. Many of our teachers continue to serve as our mentors. Our schools also taught us the important of service to our community, enhancing Keller’s already communal feel. From the age of 14, I participated in enhancement projects at my high school and began volunteering for the City of Keller, feeling further connected to the city.
Through serving others, I have come to realize that every person, regardless of one’s cultural background, has something to offer to the community. As an immigrant, I was quite hesitant about accepting new challenges. The fear of others’ judgment regarding my performance hindered my progress. However, through serving others in various capacities, I was able to interact and help people in my community, who themselves helped me overcome my fears. Whether helping patients at St. John Providence or assisting refugees at the American Red Cross, I was amazed as to how much my presence made a difference, especially for those who needed me to interpret for them.
I feel the story, "The Ones Who Walk Away from Omelas" relates to modern day in the form of the military. I touched on it in my discussion post. I related to the child in the story that is locked in the basement to the men and women who serve in the arm forces today. The military makes sacrifices for the people of the United States on a daily basis. I have friends who are in Afghanistan right now and other places overseas fighting for our country.

Promoting international awareness and knowledge is what I have being doing all my life; after all I have practically being raised on the move. Being a Third Culture Kid (TCK) has allowed me to adapt to any scenario, regardless of the differences the places I lived posses, while simultaneously maintaining my identity. That is not to say that I as a person have not changed, if anything I take with me a little pearl, a lesson, a way of thinking from each place. This has allowed me to grow as a human being by breaking down walls of self-doubt, fear and insecurity. Emerging oneself into a new culture is not easy, if anything it is challenging, but worth it for the experiences and friendships gained along the way.
VI. So today, I hope to persuade each of you to take a part as volunteer in any kind of situation. VII. Because, by being a part as a volunteer, it can increase your socialization yet it can make you physical and mental health more better and can improve your career level.

The notion of ‘global citizenship’ has recently gained importance in international development discourse with the recently-adopted “United Nations Secretary-General’s Global Education First Initiative” (2012). A common thought is growing; individuals around the world are directly or indirectly interconnected and interdependent beyond their nation.
My interest in intercultural communication and determination of pursuing a career in international education motivated me to apply for the MA ICBP at Warwick University. The decision has been carefully made based on my bachelor degree in International Communications Studies with Spanish, voluntary teaching in primary schools in China and Cameroon. After graduation, I wish to work for as an administrative coordinator in an international education institution or as a program manager of NGO, promoting quality education. With 3-5 year working experience, I will head for a PhD degree to prepare myself for a research-oriented position. Undertaking my bachelor degree in the first Sino foreign university, the University of Nottingham Ningbo China (UNNC), is the first step for me to engage in cross-cultural communication as a learner.
What is the definition of the word passion? The definition of that word is “a strong feeling of enthusiasm or excitement for something or about doing something. " Some are passionate about singing, others are passionate about dancing, perhaps fishing, or travelling. I also have a passion. However, it is slightly different from these.
Cultural exchange programs are for connecting, enriching and empowering the global community. Cultural exchange programs expose students to people from different cultural, geographic, religious and socio-economic backgrounds and provide the opportunity for students to develop a greater understanding of diversity both in their home country and visiting country. Cultural Exchange Program allows students to interact with and learn from people who are different from themselves and to participate in new and distinctive experiences beyond their own communities. Cultural exchange helps students to develop positive relationships with others, understand a broader range of perspectives, and develop the knowledge and skills needed for participation in our multicultural society. Participating in International Cultural and Educational Exchange programmes is a life changing experience.
