Carrie Rothstein wrote the book and it mainly entails issues and treasured ideas to do with managing classrooms. It takes into the deep study the new of thinking about classroom management by advocating that teachers should learn to intermarry cultures with class instruction and more so have the diverse cultures in their mind while carrying out the so-called class management and arrangement. It states that the studying is much affected by culture hence teachers should equip themselves with the various cultures of the students they teach even if not necessarily learning all the dos and don'ts of a given culture. The books urged teachers to learn about the different ways in which culture affects the beliefs about schooling and education in general
The majority of our student base are from the same social class, culture, ethnicity, and family structures. There are only a handful of students who have come from different backgrounds who may speak a different language or come from a different culture. In order for our students to become “engaged members of both a local and global community”, they should be exposed to more people from these varying cultures rather than just reading about them in books and seeing them in the media.
The study of humanities intertwines with the sciences to create multiple perspectives that range from far beyond the walls of the classroom. In fact, these perspectives may be formed through UB Honor College's established global network, from New York to Singapore. The opportunity to study abroad, specifically in Singapore, would enrich my education as the campus strives to provide a research university through the crossing of cultures and its Asian-focused global economy. The cultural diversity allows for an individual to become enlightened. As an Egyptian who speaks Arabic, I would be able to understand different perceptions through interactions with others and through strong interconnected global academics.

Cultural Competence to me is an individual’s, professional’s, or organization’s ability to understand, work, assist, and interact with people from different cultures, ethnicities, religious beliefs, values, gender, age, other than their own. Cultural Competence means being sensitive and aware of the differences that people posses, and then educating one self on those differences to appropriately interact or help them. I believe that cultural competence is an ongoing process that is developed over time. Individuals can obtain the knowledge and skills needed to be culturally sensitive through participating in workshops and trainings, creating family, individual, and community partnerships, and working with people from different ethnic back
Cultural competence means working respectfully and effectively with all children, their families, team members and the community. It means being aware of your own values, beliefs, practices and prejudices and the influence this can have on your decision making. It means continual reflection on your work practices and working towards a better understanding and respect for all cultures. Being culturally competent also means being aware of dominant and minority cultures and the affect this has on the community and adapting your ways to interact with the children and families to make them feel safe, secure and supported (EYLF Outcome 1- Children have a strong sense of identity). Diversity has given me a strong determination to face any new challenge confidently. Every move was unique in its own way. I have understood that beneath every culture, people are the same and that each culture presents a new perspective, new life style and a rich learning experience. With this outlook on diversity, I am confident that I can blend with the student community from all over the world. I would focus on human values of the people I meet and endeavor to promote thought
Despite the fact that intercultural competence has different terminology when referring to disciple or approach, it can also relate to the debate about global citizenship. Intercultural competence is seen as the capability to develop an objective knowledge, attitude, and skills that prompt visible behavior and communication that are both successful and appropriate in intercultural interaction. In other words, intercultural competence is a range of different skills; cognitive, affective, and behavioral skills that lead to communicate effectively and suitable with different surrounding and culture. Intercultural competence can also be broken down into three constituent elements seen as knowledge, skills, and attitude. (Deardorff, 2006)

Culture Involves Concepts, Generalizations, Abstractions, Assumptions, and Ideas. The ants are locked into the specifics of their nest-building behavior. It must work the same all the time. My interest in intercultural communication and determination of pursuing a career in international education motivated me to apply for the MA ICBP at Warwick University. The decision has been carefully made based on my bachelor degree in International Communications Studies with Spanish, voluntary teaching in primary schools in China and Cameroon. After graduation, I wish to work for as an administrative coordinator in an international education institution or as a program manager of NGO, promoting quality education. With 3-5 year working experience, I will head for a PhD degree to prepare myself for a research-oriented position. Undertaking my bachelor degree in the first Sino foreign university, the University of Nottingham Ningbo China (UNNC), is the first step for me to engage in cross-cultural communication as a learner.
