Manipulator. Lier. Coward. King Henry was all of these things resulting in unexcused deaths. In Shakespeare's play “Henry V” Henry invaded France to claim a throne that was not his, as well as emotionally manipulating his soldiers to fight and murdering many people that didn’t have to be killed.
I believe that King Henry wasn’t a hero. In Shakespeare's play, “Henry V” Henry invaded France to claim a throne that he believed was his. The reason he believed this is because his great-great-grandmother was the daughter of a former king of France. On the other hand, this wouldn’t make any sense, women back then were denied rights so even though she was a King's daughter she wouldn’t have had a claim to the throne. In Shakespeare's play, “Henry V” Henry trained his soldiers to fight a war that he initiated, in addition to that he knew that they were outnumbered and continued to push them to fight for him calling them “cowards”. A true leader doesn’t call his troops cowards, a true leader would encourage his men to fight for the right thing. As well as calling them “cowards” Henry stated, “We few, we happy few, we band of brothers” saying that when they returned they would continue their lives as brothers. Meaning that they could get land and be affiliated with their King. Proving that Henry emotionally manipulated his men to do what he wanted in order to get the French throne. Killing the people he killed was not an act of bravery, it was an act of greed. King Henry was acting out of want for the French throne when he already had a throne of his own. Henry couldn’t accidentally kill 6,400 people it was intentional. If he invaded a country that didn’t threaten or pursue him then all of the bloodshed is on his hands. The Frenchmen were fighting for their home which is what anyone would do in the position of getting bombarded by warriors from a different country trying to take the throne and rule France. Proving that Henry is not a hero he is a villain trying to disguise himself by doing the “right” thing for his country killing many innocent
