Theseus is a demigod who was known for his strategy. He lived with his mother in a hut in a place named Troezen. One day his life changed when he was beaten in a fight with a larger boy and went to the beach to have a wave cover him, but instead the sounds of the waves put him to sleep. He then woke up and saw he had been visited by a bird who told him, “do not fear your enemy’s size, but use it against him.” With the knowledge that the bird bestowed upon him he gained the heroic qualities of strategy and bravery.
Title The painting “Hercules and Deianira” by Antonio del Pollaiuolo depicts a myth from classical antiquity, of the centaur Nessus abducting the maiden Deianira from her lover, Hercules, who pursues and kills the man-beast. According to legend, the centaur would pull one more trick before his death, convincing Deianira that his blood could be used as a love tonic; when she gives Hercules a robe soaked in the blood potion, he dies in a fit of agony, revealing the centaur’s wicked hoax. The artist chooses for the moment of depiction an instant of pursuit, as Hercules realizes his folly and gives chase to the abductor, bow in hand. “Hercules and Deianira” is massively successful at translating the emotional character of the scene, a moment wrought with anger and anguish, into a visual

A father’s success is not displayed monetarily or superficially but by the impressions left on his children. Haileab, from Of Beetles and Angels by Mawi Asgedom, makes decisions for the good of his loved ones and this is reflected by his words and actions.

The Beetle, an 1897 novel by Richard Marsh, takes place in the dark and supernatural country of Egypt, where said creature of horror is believed to change its form at will, and use its hypnotic powers to prey upon young middle-class English people. The novel appears to, more often than not, deal with society’s anxiety surrounding the turn of the century. Marsh analyses the opposing views of sexuality and femininity through the exchange of sexual manipulation in the novel. By numerous means of sexually influenced interferences, and the degenerate figure of the colonized, The Beetle builds a sort of parallel between the practices of the British Empire, allowing the British characters to see their individual wrongdoings in a horrific other form.
Defense Mechanisms to Cope With The Realities of War Wars are known to leave behind a trail of destruction that affects the mental health of individuals in profound ways. While these defensive mechanisms help the characters deal with the emotional stress of war, it can also hinder them from
For years, I slaved over that ungrateful child just for him to just grow up and want to destroy me and all that I am known for. All I am acknowledged for is my negative actions; death, punishment, pain, revenge, and many more. Even though that is my specialty and I am very good at it, not trying to brag, but many come to believe I am as hard as a rock, the shell of a human with no feelings inside; heartless is what they call me. They may find it hard to come by but I am actually quite delicate.
