Hercules Research Paper

569 Words3 Pages
The constellation that I chose was Hercules because not only was Hercules my favourite movie as a child, but it was one of the most interesting things that I learned about in muggle schooling. This constellation was first discovered in 1714 by an English astronomer, Edmond Halley, which was also included in Messier's catalog as Messier 13 on June 1, 1764. Hercules is the 5th biggest constellation in the sky, although the constellation has no first or second magnitude stars. The brightest star within this constellation is Beta Herculius (also known as Kornephoros), it is a yellow giant of magnitude 2.8 and is about 148 light years away from Earth.

The creation myth behind this constellation started with the birth of Hercules, the son of Zeus
