Hercules is well known for being exceptionally strong and omnipotent although, the majority of people do not know his true story. In both the myth and the movie hercules has quests, fears, dragons, and so forth that he has to overcome as a hero. Hercules in the myth and the movie is not the same type of hero, he shows different qualities in both forms or literature. He portrays as a warrior in the book but, a Seeker in the movie.
Every hero must have specific qualities, five to be exact, these are called archetypes. In the Myth Hercules depicts the qualities of a warrior. In the Disney movie, Hercules portrays the qualities of a seeker. While growing up Hercules knows he is different from everyone so he sets off to find out where he belongs in his world, he comes to learn he is part god. At this point his quest is to become a god once more to be with his mom Hera and his dad Zeus once more. Hercules sets out to find who he is because he has been treated so badly where he lived and he fears he will never fit in with the people around him. Ever since Hercules was a newborn child Hades has been his dragon. Hercules just does not see this until later in his life when Hades tricks him into giving up his powers. A seeker hero typically runs away from his dragon, just like Hercules did until he realized that Meg was in trouble so he had to change and face his dragon and save her. Hercules completed his task of being a god, by being himself showing the world who he really was. He also, risked his life at the end to save Meg in the lost souls pit. His virtue is working hard for what he wants to achieve. None of his journey is easy so he has to work hard to prove himself worthy of being a god.
