Jacob presents with low muscle tone, decreased balance reactions, and postural mechanisms. He sat in the chair for tabletop activities. He stabilized himself in “W-sit” posture during tabletop activities. He was able to hold antigravity postures such as sitting and standing for a substantial length of time. He was able to go up and down the stairs without support. He used reciprocal stepping pattern to ascend stairs. He was unable to use reciprocal stepping pattern to descend stairs. He was able to climb and balance on a 10-inch block and jump off it. He was able to perform a broad jump for a distance of 6 inches. His scores on the Sensitivity quadrant falls in the more than others range. These scores indicate that Jacob has difficulty integrating and processing auditory and tactile stimuli. He oversensitive to some of the sensory stimuli and also finds some of the sensory stimuli uncomfortable. As a result, he is cautious of the environment and likes to stay in control. His increased sensitivity to sensory stimuli is influencing his ability to attend to tasks. During the evaluation, he was distracted by extraneous stimuli. He needed frequent redirections to stay on the task and encouragement to participate in new tasks. His dislike for swinging and rocking activities indicate that Jacob may have difficulty processing vestibular stimuli. Although he explores environment purposefully and plays constructively, he has difficulty sustaining attention. He constantly seeks novel stimuli. He also has difficulty following verbal directions.
