The History of H.G. Wells Success

Many people wonder who H.G. Wells is, and why he was known as “The Father of Science Fiction”. Growing up Wells was always interested in Fiction novels and anything that had any relation to Science Fiction or Modern History. When Wells was a young boy, he was always big on his education and his future and his main hobby was reading and learning science and science discoveries. In Wells novels, he creates characters to relate to himself from his childhood. Wells uses his examples and background history to show his readers how he overcame all of the hate and negative comments people gave him while he was on his way to becoming successful. Wagar, W. Rollyson, Carl states “The Invisible Man has an honored place as one of the first works of modern science fiction. H.G. Wells, a science student and teacher, was keenly interested in how the twentieth century would develop its technical knowledge” (Rollyson). Rollyson is giving us a better understanding of Wells achievements and how he got to the successful point of his life. Rollyson states from Wells novel “The Invisible Man,” “There is something heroic in Griffin’s dedication to science, but his quest is perverted” (Rollyson). Rollyson proves to us that Wells added some characteristics to his characters in his novels to show some of the struggle that he went through as a kid and how he can explain it through his characters to prove a point to his readers and audience. Fritz Morgan states, “Although in his later years Wells turned to writing documentary and historical material, he is best remembered as the first writer of true science fiction” (Morgan). Morgan is showing us that wells changed his educational standard and instead wanted to write and learn more on science fiction and modern history. “For the next few years Wells turned in some of the most enduring works of science fiction” (Morgan). This shows us that Wells was sure on what he wanted to do and when he stepped up to do that he succeeded and made some of the most famous works of history and science fiction.
