Herbert George Wells “The man who invented sci fi.”
H. G. Wells was a great man, who made his wildest ideas branch out to millions. Wells was a man who didn’t have much but turned what he had to something he loved doing for many years of his life. His ideas would start a genre of entertainment that would last his lifetime and even after. H. G. Wells was the man who started with nothing but then became the father of science fiction.
H. G. Wells had a hard early life but with his hard determination he made something of himself. “Wells was born into a poverty stricken family, with his father being a shoe maker he could not make much money for his family. “Wells started writing stories about strange and unusual happenings that scientist would encounter, stories of this nature hadn’t really had any interest to a rather large part of social readers during Well’s time period.” (bio.com) In 1896 Wells published his first book called “The time machine”, with this book being the first book to really talk about and describe time travel many people loved the idea that Wells had put on his book. With the success of his first book Wells began to write more ideas of strange things that have happened to scientists. Wells gave birth to many ideas to the people of what strange and bassar things that “can” happen to any person.( Bourgoin, Suzanne M., and Paula K. Byers) Wells’s second book ever “War of the worlds” really got him his popularity. On October 30, 1938 the radio started reading Wells’s book over the radio, saying that aliens are attacking New Jersey. This radio broadcast scared thousands and when they said that the events were all in the book of Wells, people got interested in the genre from this broadcast and started reading his books making the genre well
