When I played high school football the three of my four years of high school I had multiple injuries each year. The most serious injuries I had was a sprained ankle and a pulled hamstring. I never missed a game because of my injuries but I have miss some practices because of it or I was limited to the stuff I could do in practice. When I was sitting out of practice the athletic trainer would help me and tell me stuff to get my injuries in better shape. That statement was made clear by a number of courts and there are four court case that brings up the safety of students. One was the Mogabgab versus Orleans Parish School Board in in 1970. The court case was about a coach that was responsible for his failure to make the safety of one of his athletes a priority. This athlete died because he severed a serious injury and the coach did not contact emergency medical care. That is why we need to educate high school coaches about injuries that occur during the sports they are coaching. 40 percent of states require that high school athletic association do first aid training. According to the National Education Association “Hawaii is the only state with an athletic trainer in every high school.” Seven states to do not require first aid training. These seven states are Arizona, Florida, Michigan, North Carolina, North Dakota, Pennsylvania, Virginia. Several of association including the National Federation of State High School Association and the National Association for Sports and Physical Education recommend that coaches should have a current first aid and CPR certificate whether they have experience or not. With state budget always being stretched the athletic trainers think they need to show a little more value they have in their secondary schools.one way this occurs is when students take hands-on training for an internship capacity and that allows the kids to get a feel for the sports medicine industry. When I was in high school I had an opportunity to take sports medicine and to pass the class we had to earn hours by helping the athletic trainer with certain tasks. When I helped we usually with taping players and giving the players water when they needed it. When schools do not have the money for an athletic trainer they are the ones who usually teaches the coaches and students first aid training and
