The essay “Your Social Life: Are You a Fox or a Hedgehog?” is written by Pamela Haag and can be found on pages 398-400. Haag discusses in her essay the two types of social groups: foxes, and hedgehogs. The generations before social media would be, mostly, classified as hedgehogs and the generations after social media would be, mostly, classified as foxes. Foxes have broad friend bases but shallow relationships. On the other hand, hedgehogs have narrow friend bases and deep relationships with more meaning.
52% of teens have said that social media has helped their relationship with friends. A lot of kids are more themselves on the internet than in real life. They express themselves more differently on the internet than they would in the outside world. Teens are usually always acting differently than what they normally would when they are on the internet. We are able to express ourselves better over the internet, than in real life, because we may be under less peer pressure.
My brother is turning down opportunity. I can literally walk into his room at any time to find him doing homework, watching anime, on his phone talking to friends, on his ipad playing games, and all while blasting random music. For the past four weeks, this class has looked into the effects of social media, both good and bad. And social media is everywhere; in nearly every family you can find people who use social media 24/7. Some parents are against the ideas of social media and some parents are totally for social media. I think both have their positives and negatives.

Instead of wanting to open a new social media account children should do their homework, spend time with family, or go do outdoor activities with friends. If children have social media accounts they will “spend hours browsing and surfing the web”, they will only want to be using it all the time and they will leave all the priorities last (Keim).
