Hildegard Westerkamp: A Sound Walk

A sound walk, as defined by Hildegard Westerkamp, is “any excursion whose main purpose is listening to the environment.” Other reasons can be to listen to yourself and other people. Allen also states that "Soundwalking encourages group bonding through a shared, active experience, and it can be related to a variety of intellectual pursuits in music study." The soundwalk we went on as a group was a small loop around a segment of the campus, taking a little bit more than thirty minutes to complete. We as a group were encouraged to listen for anything.
