The United States of America has never been faced with having three racial groups make up for the majority of the population. Until now. This article evaluates and discusses the affects of this third party rise, the Hispanics, and how black and whites are dealing with this change. The article looks for the necessary cause for a person to consider themselves white, black, Hispanic or American. Many of the answers vary based on the information provided and the question being asked.
The article also discusses how many people believe that Hispanics are the fastest growing population in the United States when it is actually the Asians who are the fastest growing. The article discusses why people believe this and facts and information about the population growth of both of these races.
The article also discusses the social identity theory and the effects this has on society. People who base their self worth within their group, do not often achieve their objective or personal self interest.
