It is with great honor that I write this letter to confirm my intent to run as Historian for the 2017-18 academic year. This position is filled with promise and opportunity, and I hope to extend my desires for the office into action. The ideal Historian should be organized, accountable, and ambitious, and I believe I hold the skill necessary to meet such requirements. I have worked previously with the archives, helping past historians in their endeavors to reorganize and condense our records, providing me extensive knowledge of what we hold in our collection. They participated in the service of the same bands we currently serve while establishing programming, funding, and innovative methodology which still influences our organization, and we must not forget their impact as bandsmen, leaders, and brothers. Therefore, maintaining strong alumni relations is essential, and I hope to expand our communication to further develop a sense of brotherhood between our active, alumni, and life members. I plan to reignite an interest in Kappa Kappa Psi through the encouragement to reconnect with Beta Kappa, their home chapter. Not only will I utilize our alumni Facebook group, among other channels of communication, to inform and remind alumni of current activities, I wish to gather their stories, experiences, and perspectives from their time as active brothers to use our similar experiences as members of Beta Kappa to bridge the divide caused by graduation.
