1990’s Music Music is a multi-billion dollar industry, it is one of the most popular forms of entertainment in the world. It started in the 1940’s with jazz music, then came rock and roll in the 1950’s and 60’s, in the 1970’s disco and funk rose to the spotlight, and in the 1980’s any music you could dance to was probably on the radio. The 1990’s was a turning point for music, with the rise of hip-hop music and the age of grunge rock, the 1990’s changed music forever. Kurt Cobain’s suicide, the deaths of Tupac and Biggie, and the release of The Backstreet Boys album Millennium all affected music in their own ways. Hip-hop earned a lot of popularity when rappers like ice-cube and will smith started acting and used their songs in there movies and tv shows. Then rappers like Tupac, Biggie, Snoop Dogg,Jay-z, and the rap group NWA became some of the most well known artists around the globe. Sean, Puff Daddy, Combs is one of the most successful people in hip-hop, he started his own record label and signed one of the most popular rappers of all time, Biggie Smalls. Eventually a rivalry started between the west coast and the east coast. The west coast having people like Tupac, Snoop Dogg, and Dr.Dre and the east had Biggie. The rivalry was mainly between Bad Boy records from the East and Death Row records from the West. Tupac Shakur and Biggie would both get shot and killed during this time. McLean, and Kevin Richardson. There first album was mainly popular in Europe, but there second album put them at the top of the charts.
