More specifically, smoking is a product, with the ability to sell based heavily on how its customers portray the product. The argument on how to dissuade people from purchasing cigarettes is discussed heavily, and Rosenberg includes many examples used by various countries to succeed in decreasing in cigarette sales. On the other hand, the discussion on what is used to persuade customers into buying the cigarettes is section of her article that shows how easily people are swayed into purchasing a specific brand of cigarette. By mentioning how cigarette companies persuade customers, it also provides a secondary issue in the article, about whether or not it is ethical to persuade customers in this manner.

The United States was involved in the Vietnam War in the 1960s in order to support South Vietnam’s fight for an economic and cultural ties to the West. On the other hand, North Vietnam supported the ideas of a communist economy. However, the United States’s involvement in the war caused a million of dollars and lives lost, lost of faith towards the country’s government, and divided the nation instead of uniting as one. More than three million people in the war died, and out of those three million, 58,000 were Americans. The Americans and the people in South Vietnam had fought for their beliefs of a modern Westernized country while North Vietnam had fought for a communist economy.
Martin Luther King Junior claimed the source of the tensions was that young black men were dying so that the Vietnamese could have rights which black Americans didn’t even have (Doc C). This caused social tension because young men were forced to die for “freedom” when their own communities were discriminated against and abused. Another social tension was caused by the decay of society while the Vietnam War raged on. The political cartoon “Onward and Upward” illustrates that President Johnson sacrificed the means to better society in order to finance the war (Doc D). This frustrated many Americans because they believed more money and effort should be put into education and healthcare, social issues which impacted nearly every American, but instead government funding went towards the war, which many Americans felt was entirely useless.

The Vietnam War was a war the United States should have never been involved in. The “Domino Theory” was a direct cause of the war. The war resulted in much death; innocent civilians and young Americans were killed. The Vietnam war also resulted in rioting, distrust for the United States government, and the loss of many lives. 58,000 Americans were killed and 300,000 were wounded.
