My reaction was quite shocking and very open minded. For my own understanding I imagined if I were experiencing this situation. My reaction to all this would be more of an emotional feeling, such as vulnerable and lonely. Having to leave your small village and adapt to the United States is a huge difference of adaptation. A person has to adjust to the traditions here and the lifestyle a person lives by. I believe, that if I were to be displaced to Hmong the adaption would be the same challenging experience because I would have to adapt to their style they live and their traditions. born 19 year old Hmong would experience many cultural shock if they’re parents were to leave and return to the mountains of Laos. For example, it states a sink being used for rinsing rice, but little do they know that the sink has a whole where food falls through. The toilet also, they need the knowledge to know how to use it and what it is used for. The concept in this reading was that culture shock and the way someone who is foreign and is forced to come to an unknown place to live in. The textbook introduces the culture of people and the way they adapt to their traditions. The customs that a person follows by to their daily living. The most important idea would be the way the Hmong had to come to the United States and adapt to the culture here and the way life is lived by here.
