In mid-February of 1913, Brazil, Indiana James Riddle Hoffa was born. Growing up, he saw America’s labor class struggle in horrible conditions. At the young age of 7 his father died. His father worked in a local mine, he died in the mine from black lungs. His father literally worked to death. After his father passed Hoffa’s mother went to work, they eventually moved to Detroit, Michigan. Hoffa had very little education, he dropped out of school in the seventh grade. He went to work at a grocery store, there he started his first labor strike. In the early 1930’s Hoffa joined the Teamsters, large labor union. He found love with Josephine Poszywak in 1936, they later started a family consisting of a boy and a girl. In 1952 he became vice president, five years later Hoffa won presidency. As you can imagine with Hoffa’s sort of power comes a fair share of enemies. On July 30, 1975, Hoffa left his home in Detroit to meet up at a local restaurant to talk to a mob associated union leader and local criminal. Sheeran told his biographer that he shot Hoffa. According to Charles Brandt, Sheeran betrayed Hoffa because of the “Dons” orders. If you read the book “ I Heard you Paint Houses”, a biography of Frank Sheeran’s life mentions a detailed section of his lethal plan. Sheeran lured Hoffa to a Detroit home in the suburban area, there he shot Hoffa in the back of the head. He left, while Brothers Thomas and Stephen Andreta stayed to clean up the bloody mess.
