Stanley Yelnats gets accused of stealing shoes from a homeless shelter and goes to Camp Green Lake. The theme is growing up. Because he is in his youth, he has ambition at some points in the story, and finally show innocence when put into a bad situation. One reason why the theme is growing up. Because he is in his youth.
