Holes, a novel written in texas 1998 by a great author named louis Sachar. Holes is a captivating novel about friendship, honesty, discoveries, determination, bravery courage, justice and judgment. My opinion about this novel is that it is an exciting novel full of mystery and adventure and i have learned a lot from this book. Camp green lake, is where poor Stanley Yelnats ended up in, when Stanley arrives he meets Mr. Sir, the guard and his punishment is to dig a large holes everyday. While digging holes if any boy finds anything worth money he gives it to the warden; who is in charge of the camp, and takes the day off. X-Ray, squid, zigzag, armpit, magnet and zero are Stanley's room mates in the tent, they call him caveman. Lately Stanley realizes that they are digging holes to find buried treasure. Although Stanley is having the worst times of his life at camp green lake, he writes a letter to his parents about how happy he is and about the great activities he does, just because he doesn't want to show them how miserable he is. While writing this letter there comes Zero, Stanley's room mate asking him if Stanley can teach him how to read and write and zero digs half his holes. Zigzag, Stanley's other room mate is jealous of seeing Stanley resting everyday and zero working for him, so he starts a fight with Stanley. Stanley has no friends, maybe because of his weight. He is an innocent and kind, he loves and respects his parents. Stanley is smart, he knows what he should do to survive and he quickly understands everything such as rules. He is also trying to show a good first impression to X-ray and the other boys. He is loyal and a great friend for saving Zeros life and for teaching him how to read. Stanley never gives up despite the problems he
