God has called His church to be in the world, but not of it . In a society that idolizes films and the culture they engulf, Christians must consider how they will respond to the worldview seen in movies. Film is art; Art was created for the purpose of providing enjoyment to those observing. The movies act as a medium between the observers and the worldview of the creator. However, like any other nicety of the world, the art in movies has been tampered by the sin of man. Believers have been placed in a position to discern whether that worldview is aligning with God 's Word. He believes a worldview is a story, not simply an order of beliefs. To begin, Godawa makes the seemingly absurd statement that God loves movies . To support this, he continues on to say that God uses signs and wonders to act as visuals much like a movie. 80% of the Bible is story, vision, or narratives . The author uses people such as Jeremiah and Ezekiel as examples for the idea that God appreciates drama. To conclude his opinion, Brian Godawa establishes the three stepping stones for the plot line of a movie; Creation, fall, and redemption. For anyone who has spent any time in God’s Word, this outline is incredibly familiar. The movie Avatar, for example gives the audience a story that justly follows this pattern. The creation is a beautiful environment untouched by man. The fall comes when the original state has gone wrong . This is due to the nature’s enemy which is mankind. This states that man is inherently bad. Man creates movies; therefore this must allude to the assumption that movies are bad. A symbol for such a statement is the character of Jake Sully who realizes what man has done and attempts to restore the land. He becomes a hero. Jake Sully symbolizes Hollywood . The redemption comes when they restore the land they once tampered. The characters strive to emphasize a peaceful and harmonic world
