When writing my exploratory paper I got a better chance to go into depth into my topic and seen multiple different perspectives. I think the exploratory essay gave me a better chance to understand a topic in which most people tend ignore or do not really care about. My topic is “Homeless Veterans in America”. I think I chose this topic because when I walk down the streets I see a homeless person holding up a “I am a homeless veteran”. I had a question in my head.
Veterans and our soldiers are coming home from war or getting out of the military and when they get home they can’t afford rent or they have a mental disease from war. Homeless veterans tend to experience homelessness longer than non-veteran homeless. This should not be happening to our soldiers. This is very undesirable for our troops to come home and becoming homeless. They fight for our freedom and our rights and we repay them by becoming homeless.
The America I believe in provides food and shelter for homeless veterans. When homeless veterans come home from protecting our country they usually end up with no food, and no home. as said by pres. Barack Obama, “no one who fights for this country should have to fight for a job, a roof over their head and the care that they need when they come home”. I love that quote because it’s true.
Helping our veterans should be mandatory because of their sacrifice. Even though some people believe war veterans acquire enough from the Government, others believe they deserve more for their services. Veterans of the United States of America should not be homeless since they fought for our country with a sense of bravery and commitment. Therefore, the Department of Veterans Affairs should be reconstructed, also expanded to meet the growing need of our veterans.
Veteran Benefits The issue of veteran benefits in the United States is not taken as seriously as it should be in our country, even though it is a growing problem that needs to be addressed. The lack of available funding for veterans is especially obvious when compared to that available for lower income citizens, or even illegal immigrants. Also, what does exist appears to fall short in taking care of veteran’s needs. Considering that these veterans are people who have risked their lives fighting for this country, the fact that they are not receiving immediate benefits or even what they have earned is unfair.
Homeless veterans need more help After all the things that homeless veterans have done for this country, they need more help. Many times, veterans will be seriously injured while in service. Whether it’s a physical or mental injury, they are serious.

The US has grappled with many questions about society’s obligations as to whether or not to offer services and benefits to the men and women in the armed forces. Supporters argue that helping veterans will help the society as whole and opponents argue that we shouldn’t be increasing our federal government spending in repaying veterans. Although I do see where people can argue that we are spending too much money on helping veterans after war, I believe that the government owes them for what they have done for the country, despite the cost. The government owes certain benefits to veterans because the men and women in the armed forces deserve to be welcomed home with a generous system of services for what they have done for the country. Helping veterans goes way back all the way to the 1600s.

It is such a shame that they are ignored and even homeless in today 's society. I had wondered how we could get veterans of the street and back into the job world. After research I found that there are programs and methods put in place specifically to help these struggling veterans.
The goals to bring awareness to the citizens of the US that veterans homelessness is a growing social problem in our society and that they need more assistants. Not only does this problem affect our veterans physically emotionally and mentally, it also affects how america 's youth perceives the government due to their neglect of our homeless vertarans.
