According to The Atlantic Press, homelessness has increased by 55% since 2020. That's an insane increase and homelessness is already one of the biggest issues in today's society. When you think about homelessness, you attend to think what they are living like, not what we can do as a society to help. Homelessness is can be caused by stagnant wages, mental health crisis, substance abuse, and a lot of other things. All of these can be changed easily, it's just in our power as people in society and the government to help.
Stagnant wages are a contributing factor to homelessness. According to the National Alliance to End Homelessness, when wages are not increasing at the same rate as the cost of living, it becomes increasingly difficult for individuals and families to afford basic necessities such as housing, food, and healthcare. This can lead to financial instability and homelessness. Additionally, those who are already struggling to make ends meet may be more vulnerable to job loss, illness, or other unforeseen events that can lead to homelessness.
