In Homer 's "The lliad", a giant wooden horse rolls into the city of troy, and, under the command of Prince Paris, kidnaps King Menelaus ' beloved wife, Helen. This is the catalyst for a major war, better recognized as the Trojan War. This well-known tale has made its way into countless movies and plays, and has even made it into the classroom. It 's validity, however, remains arguable. Was there really a city of Troy? What about the infamous Battle of Troy? The answer is no. Although some of Homer 's story seems to match up with archeological discoveries, evidence is unstable. There was not a city of Troy or Battle of Troy, because supposed evidence to prove it 's existence is thousands of years away from the story 's setting, no evidence
