Almost everyday, students get buried with homework. The homework given is basically useless to many yet still taken for a grade. It is often believed that if homework is not taken for a grade anymore, then students will not do it causing them to score bad on their tests and their grades as a whole. However, in Dhahran High School Saudi Arabia, homework is counted as a learning behavior grade and not achievement. Due to this many do not do homework as often but study their own ways or work on their hobbies. Regardless, most students are still doing excellent on their tests and scoring well in the class. A professor at the University of Toronto, Lee Bartel, studied the effects of homework on children by testing data on over twenty-thousand students and concluded with results showing that homework does indeed have the effects of causing stress and anxiety. Research preformed by Stanford Graduate School of Education examined the different effects of homework on students' well-being and discovered that students that worked on homework for longer than three hours a night are negatively impacted. It proves in a rise in stress levels along with physical health problems. Since the students are constantly bombarded with work, they have no phase during the day towards hobbies for themselves to go pump up weights in the gym to relieve stress or to play sports and fix their health problems for example.
