Homosexuality: An Argument Against Police Brutality

Police brutality is the use of any force to accomplish a lawful police purpose. Although no reliable measure of its incidence exists-let alone one charting change its history. A lot of people are killed every year, month, and a day and it's not acceptable.

The only thing that keeps people from overrunning police in our society is the respect that we have chosen to give police. People give police respect because they know that they will get hurt or arrested. “ In fact there's been an increase of six percent in fatal shootings when we compare the first six months of last year to the first six months of this year… “ ( Stoughton, 3 ). More African Americans are getting killed rather than white and hispanic people. “The point is that if African Americans are more likely to be involved in violent crime-both as perpetrators and victims - then the higher rate of police shootings may not be surprising.( Stoughton, 5 ). Citizens are losing complete respect for cops and this is not alright because more people are going to get killed.

Police brutality can result in a decrease in trust by citizens. People don't feel safe around police because they see articles or information on the internet that could be true or false about police brutality and then the citizens judge all the cops. “ I think that fairness demands that …show more content…

One thing that needs to stop happening is racism and to stop criminalizing everything. “ Official data on the number of people killed by the police turns out to be remarkably unreliable. “ ( Stoughton, 3 ). Another thing that needs to stop is to treat addicts and mentally ill people like they need help, not jail. “ People have data about who went to a movie last weekend, or how many books were sold, and cannot tell you how many people were shot by the police in the U.S last month, or last year.” ( Stoughton, 3). To prevent police brutality from happening again we need to know how to take care of the problem.
