The two implicit association tests that I completed were the weight (‘Fat- Thin’ IAT) and sexuality (‘Gay- Straight’ IAT) studies. When choosing the two tests to take, I decided to attempt ones in which I did not have any prediction towards my results. Essentially, I was looking for results that would surprise or somewhat tarnish my ideal view of self. The weight association test revealed a series of faces, some with well distinguished obese figures and some with considerably thinner figures. When presented with these figures we had to then associate them with negative or positive words. Through the process of doing this, the test aimed to reveal any preference an individuals might contain over thin people relative to obese people. The sexuality association test required me to differentiate certain words and symbols that represent homosexuals and heterosexuals. This is because while completing the test, I had a faster response time when associating the words “Fat People” and “Good,” than associating the words “Thin People” and “Good.” The results also revealed that my automatic preference is only “slight,” and therefore not a huge indicator towards my unconscious biases. When considering these results, I am not entirely surprised and I think that they confirmed my already existing expectation of my views. Essentially, before taking the test (if being completely honest with myself and my instinctual preferences) I knew that I would have a slight preference and sympathy towards obese people. I think that this preference exists because society has constantly presented obese people in a sorrowful, pitiful way. Although the results are seemingly insignificant, I am not surprised by the slight preference placed on obese
