In William Shakespeare's Hamlet, Horatio is central to the drama, and he is Hamlet's rock. That is what makes Horatio memorable. Horatio was a true friend to Hamlet. Throughout the story there are many betrayals. Horatio is the one person who never deceives anyone and is loyal to his friends. Hamlet is deceived by his uncle and tried to get him killed. Many times throughout the story. Hamlet is able to confide in Horatio. Horatios act of loyalty had a big impact on Hamlet. In the beginning of the story when king Hamlet's ghost appears, it is Horatio who decides to tell hamlet that they saw him. The ghost will not speak any of the men that see it. "let us impart what we have seen tonight unto young hamlet, for upon my life, this spirit, dumb to us, will speak to him" (1.1.184-186).
