Knowing how a horseback rider rides could help a person choose who to take their horse to for training. Every rider uses a different technique, and no rider rides the exact same. There are riders that are patient, some that are impatient, and the others that ride according to the horse’s temperament.
Horseback riders that are patient take their time with horses. They build a bond with that horse, and take the time to feel what that horse is also feeling. The more gentle that they are with a horse, the more cooperation they will receive from it. They never yank or pull the reins, forcing the bit in the horse’s mouth to cut or tear into the gums. They never bury their spurs into the horse’s ribcage or flanks. Hiring a patient rider to train a horse is very important. Every horse owner wants a trainer that will take good care of their horse, and treat it as their own.

If a rider is impatient with a horse, that horse is not going to cooperate with them. These riders usually tend to get frustrated rather quickly with horses, which is very easy to do. They also tend to take their anger out on them by yanking and pulling on the bit, by burying their spurs in the horse’s ribcage and flanks until they bring blood, and by constantly using a leather whip to lash across the horse’s hindquarters and behind their back legs. This is every horse owner’s nightmare. Some riders think that through lots of discipline horses tend to mind better. This is false. When a rider is forcing and constantly disciplining a horse without any praise, the horse eventually gets frustrated also. They stop cooperating, and sometimes become skittish to where they are afraid to be handled by any human
